In my master thesis, I researched how to facilitate positive emotions during the online job search process.  I therefore applied a Positive UX Design approach into the e-recruiting context.

Goal

Beyond usability: How to enhance human wellbeing in job search trough design

Designing not only for usability, but also for a nice user experience has been state of the art for several years. However, Positive UX Design goes one step further and tries to consciously enhance positive emotions through technology design. Since applying for jobs is still a painful process in most cases, I developed a research-based digital concept with positive design features for a job matching platform.

Research

Collecting positive experiences and ideating prototypes

With the help of user interviews, I collected positive emotions during the job search and created „experience cards“. In the following Positive UX workshop with interdisciplinary participants we then developed 35 Positive UX features for a job matching platform. I designed seven of these feature ideas further and implemented them into high-fidelity prototypes.

Results

Motivated job seekers – motivated employees?

In my thesis I showed that the digital job search indeed has potential for positive experience that can be actively facilitated through digital design. The experience cards as well as the developed concepts were used as an inspiration for positive design approaches in the context of e-recruiting.
